Present:  Bill, Elif, Chris P, Chris S, Julie, Jim

 Items:

 1.  JdF

  • Ball is literally in Doug's hands.  He's building elevator.  Several issues that we've applied band-aid fixes to...# 10m ODI cable has failed their testing and they are remanufacturing.  Delivery date is on-or-before June 22.  This will make it difficult to test connected to ROV.
  1. Doug has found ground fault b/w ball and frame (reads 2 ohms).  Mitigate by lots of zincs and short deployment time (10 days).
  2. Carousel issues.  Motor drawing far too much current and hot.  Lubed carousel, loosened motor belt, milled home flag so no drag.  Better, but still not like Moe.  Decided to go with it.
  3. ISUS is two week late.  Unable to test new cable from (new) pressure housing to ball, as we needed to close the sphere.
  4. Harvard's PCR assays do not work.
  5. CSV valve leaked in the b/w 6 and 7 position.  Exchanged with Betty's; leaked again.  Found third valve that didn't leak.  Unable to completely test, but Gordon did pass the post-can QC runs.
    2.  Chris Preston's last day before JdF will be June 30.

3.  Elif working on developing primers/probes for Pseud's.  Has run into some contamination problems.  Eventually we will need a lysate dilution step when going from core to MFB; We will get Chris P involved in that discussion along with Kevan Yamahara, possibly June 28. Chris has begun this here.

4.  Several jobs developing for Nilo.  Puck and Carboy cleaning.

5.  ESP Drifter.

  • Julie to start attending Tuesday's to discuss Drifter preparations.
    • She has preliminary list of 'to-do's' (like a power budget)
    • She will be getting Hawaii water on the 23rd, to see if we can filter 2L, and how well her p/p work.
    • Currently going after 6 targets:  IPC, Grp A, Grp B, Trichodesmium, Hetercystous, and a Synechococcus target
